Peter Williams

UK artist Peter Williams is entirely self taught, working out of his studio on the Suffolk coast where he lives with his long term partner Jenny and large German shepherd dog. After a very varied working life ranging from soldier to college tutor, since 2002 he has been a full time professional artist.

He uses many different media including pastel, coloured or graphite pencil, gouache but is particularly well known for watercolour work.

Blending diffused colour with confident composition and intricate detail, he is able to achieve a unique vibrancy unequalled by many other watercolourists.

Having always had immense interest in the great outdoors, animals, wildlife and particularly horses, he has recently become best known for his haunting, ephemeral Native American portraits.

Williams says "I don't try to be historically accurate, but attempt to portray palpable and arresting emotions, suspending reality to present the viewer with the wild, unchecked passions and stoic serenity of Native America."

To be found in private collections worldwide, Williams's paintings have also been published in several books and featured in many magazines in the UK.

Hi Peter. Painting arrived safe - what can I say - it's breathtaking
Propped up on my kitchen hob at moment - so I can see it every time I pass (which is often as very small kitchen) Bought for my bedroom - but is too engaging to hide away. Hob is thinking time - but it looks great there, so maybe I will give up cooking the odd meal - takeaways are the answer. Thank you for your inspiration and talent

Hi Peter Painting arrived today. I absolutely love it. It is truly unique and captures the spirit of just about every collie I have ever seen when they are out for a run.
