Advantages of owning original art
If you are fortunate enough to own a piece of original art, then you will know that one of the advantages is the satisfaction that it gives you. Happiness is clearly one of the obvious sentiments that your art will provide and there is absolutely nothing wrong if this is the only reason you ever buy art. These feelings and emotions can start before you actually buy the art. The enjoyment of searching for and choosing your oil painting or sculpted piece of art can't be overstated. This is often felt strongest when you make your first art purchase, but for many people this feeling continues regardless how many times they buy art. Collecting art can become a passion for some.
Another advantage of owning original art is its aesthetic quality. Hanging art or sculptures enhance any room in which they are displayed and this is often the prime reason when someone is thinking of buying art. Your art will add the finishing touch to your interior décor and will help to lift the mood of your room and the people in it. Oil paintings and sculptures provide a focal point in a room and are great conversation topics.
Whilst a wall hanging can compliment its surroundings and maybe bought to blend in with the décor, it is also the case for some people to buy art to stand out from the rest of the room. This ensures that the artwork is noticed and admired by all and abstract art in particular lends itself to this approach.
Many collectors appreciate the quality of an original art piece and the impression that it gives to the visitor. Depending on the size and style of art, it may also portray an air of success to the collector. This is true in particular with original oil paintings. The impression of wealth is one that may or may not be true in reality, but it is often the impression that counts.
A collector may prefer to have a number of smaller artworks from a particular artist, or they may simply buy the largest that they can afford. It isn't quantity or the size of the art that matters though - it's showing that they can afford exactly what they want - Original Art.
Whilst we are talking about wealth, it is worth mentioning that there is no doubt that pieces of original art do tend to increase in value over time. You may have no intention of selling your art, but they may certainly be the basis for any inheritance for your family. Buying Art may be a purely financial decision based on its potential future value and making the right choice when investing in art can result in rewards that far exceed the interest you might make if the money were simply in a bank.
Overall though, there can't be any better reason of owning original art than to simply love it and enjoy looking at it.
